Deacon Dr. Kevin Dickey will deliver the divinely-declared-decrees of God this Sunday morning. Or in others words, Kevin is going to bring the sermon from God’s Word this week.

And in case you missed it, we had a blast this week at fair with pig wrestling, among other activities. During my participation in the various activities in our community I took notice of numerous different gifts and talents of people in the community. Each person uniquely created in God’s image and for God’s glory.

In Psalm 139:13–14 we read, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” God has created each person uniquely and wonderfully. Regarding the church, we have been suited by God, in God’s image, which is being renewed for the purposes he has decreed.

When I think of our church, I think of gifted people both talented and blessed by God in a myriad of ways. What a blessing to have within our own church so many gifted preachers, teachers, and servants. By God’s grace this truth needs to humble us. God gives us gifts for the benefit of one another, not so that we end up thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought too. In 1 Cor 12:4-8 we read about God’s given gifts, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,

What is your gifting? How can you bless the church? How has God blessed you, so that you might bless others? I pray this week that you will take the opportunity in the name of Jesus Christ to seek the upbuilding and edification of your brothers and sisters in Christ using God’s gracious gifts.
