Jesus Our Hope of Glory

Life has a way of throwing a curve ball at you now and again. If we are honest these “curve balls” are thrown harder and more often than we might like, which makes it easy to be down trodden, discouraged, and even depressed. The world encourages us to look to psychotherapy, medical therapy, and even consumer therapy to bring healing. However, all of these therapies fail to fully deal with the heart of the matter. We are also encouraged to possess self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-assurance. Yet again, these self-centered encouragements fail to bring satisfaction for the spiritual malaise we may suffer.

In Christ Jesus we have our hope of glory. Romans 5:2 teaches that, “Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ” Through him we have gained a hope of glory that will bring great joy. Even if pointing to Jesus Christ as our hope glory fails to illicit instant emotional satisfaction, the directing of our gaze upon the substantive reality of Jesus Christ, our hope of glory, will turn our hearts in worship with great joy, as we confidently stand in the grace of Jesus Christ. Praise God for his infinite and matchless grace.

This week’s sermon will focus upon the Lord’s Supper. In this corporate time of worship let us draw near to Christ and one another. My hope and my prayer is that we will be drawn to Jesus Christ in remembrance and participation with one another and be strengthened in Christ Jesus’ name.

Grace to you and peace,

Pastor Brian
